Trying to get city water

The picture is a little more than half of the 60 meters we need to run a water pipe. Friends have two lots to the left under that large tree and I'm trying to get water there before construction starts in November. It seems that if you don't have a 2" mainline in front of your property you have to install that as well. A water contract with San Patricio is 1800 pesos but only includes 6 meters of 1/2" pipe. The 60 meter run is going to cost about 2500 pesos for material, 1200 for a backhoe and whatever a plumber charges to lay the 2" pipe.

The biggest problem is communication with the lot owners. The Canadians are very slow on email responses and Ron left San Miguel for Seattle about a week ago and I haven't heard from him. I assume Ron drove but maybe they flew and will rent a car. The two hangups so far are money and full sized (legal) copies of all the lot papers. So I wait to see what they can do for copies if they have them all and for some money deposited to my account.

Chapala waterfront construction

Ron dropped by for a few days on his way from San Miguel to Melaque and Bill and I had to show him around. We spent a couple of hours in both Ajijic and Chapala.

The first foto is of an island they are building just off the Chapala Malecon. The process is amazing. Trucks dump rocks on the beach and one by one they are loaded onto a small barge that is then pulled out to the island by rope. The rumor is they will place a large statue of Jesus looking one way or the other ... but just a rumor.

The second is of the new skate board park which is quite large an fits in well with the malecon and park. Nicely done

Did I dump this Blog - Not really

It's just the construction project has finished it's third week and there were a few weeks before that of gathering permits, finding workers, checking my construction vocabulary and clearing the lots. It's not that nothing is going to be happening but I decided to focus the project on another page.

It's been a lucky year for hurricanes here on the Pacific Central coast. Norbert took off to the west and then cut back towards Baja. Odile, which almost hit hurricane status died right off Colima so here we sit in the sunshine when were expecting flooding

May 3rd - Holy Cross Day (Día de la Santa Cruz)

Buildings under construction are decorated by construction workers placing crosses made by coloured papers & flowers. Picnics and fireworks follow celebrating this day dedicated to masons & builders. Mari just laughs at another fiesta because there are so many. Another reason to relax, have a good time and close the banks in Mexico.
