Charles Bowden on Mexico

On June 30, 2011 Bowden sat down for a video interview while in San Francisco for a speaking engagement. In his responses he argues the extreme violence seen in Mexico is a sign of a deeper societal disintegration resulting from governmental corruption, failed economic policies, and the War on Drugs.

I part with Bowden on his opinions of NAFTA. But he has some insight on the misbegotten war on drugs.

Well if it true that factory workers on the border make $60+/- a week (he knows more than I) then that is slave labor.

All he said is re-write the NAFTA rules to provide a living wage.

I don't think his comments on large scale multinational farming is off the mark either

The construction of the house finished in April 2011 and I'm pretty much settled in. As of March 2014 I'm in preparation for rain mode for this coming summer. That includes sealing and painting things and dealing with drainage issues from last year.
