Tropical Storm Newton come and gone

Rain Gauges

I put these out Sunday afternoon and took the foto this morning. The pool was also overflowing so I'd estimate maybe another 2-3 inches over night. Lost power for most of Sunday night but it came back on early in the morning. Last night I woke up from the cold. I turned off all the fans and got a blanket. Very strange for this time of year. We had some wind damage as well.

Tropical Storm Newton did become a hurricane and looks like it might be making life miserable in Baja California. Will probably have some rain for Arizona.

First storm of the season ?

Well, the first that will directly affect us. Lots of storms and a few hurricanes but all well offshore. This has possibly the driest summer in the 10+ year I've been here. Hopefully this will dry out the surrounding farmland so more crops will be planted. We'll find out in the next few days.

From NOAA

Regardless of development, gusty winds and heavy rains causing flash floods and mud slides are expected in coastal portions of the Mexican states of Oaxaca, Guerrero, Michoacan, Colima, Jalisco and Nayarit this weekend into early next week. Interests in these areas and Baja California Sur should monitor the progress of this disturbance.

Remember the Magic 8 Ball

Posted on the Facebook Page of Al Franken

"There is a very good chance the answer could be yes."

That's the answer Donald Trump gave last night when asked whether he would conduct mass deportations of undocumented immigrants.

Conservative Tom Nichols got it right: "You can see the influence of Donald J. Trump's newest adviser, Magic 8 Ball."

'Lesbian farmers' could invade your town

Gotta love these Wack Job Right Wingers

Rush Limbaugh warns that federally paid 'lesbian farmers' could invade your town

Everyone's favorite pill-popping conservative radio personality Rush Limbaugh is convinced that President Obama is funneling money to the lesbian community. Why? To train them all to become farmers and invade conservative red states, of course.

“Have you heard about the Agriculture Department’s financial grants to lesbian farmers?" asked Limbaugh on the Aug. 17 airing of his Rush Limbaugh Show on the Premiere Radio Network. "What they’re trying to do is convince lesbians to become farmers."

Once Limbaugh learned that some lesbians like to plant vegetables (the horror!), he took to the airwaves to warn of the impending lezpocalypse set to descend on the rural South.

The construction of the house finished in April 2011 and I'm pretty much settled in. As of March 2014 I'm in preparation for rain mode for this coming summer. That includes sealing and painting things and dealing with drainage issues from last year.
