It's cold out there

Lorena's dog - Burro

It's been in the mid 60's (18C) at night and Burro is dressed for the weather. My fan over my bed is turned off and I cover myself with a sheet. Neighbors are all bundled up. Winter is definitely here.

Another Nahima day

Yesterday Burro was getting a bath in my outdoor sink and Nahima was helping

It was raining yesterday so I took her and mom to school but school was closed so no pictures. I took them again today to see inside the school and a foto or two. We arrived a few minutes past 9 and the gate is locked at 9 so we waited outside for awhile. Very impressed with the condition of the school.

Now you're alone

That was a parting remark from my Canadian neighbor the day before they headed for the airport and the flight back north.  She's the same one that refuses to think in pesos for the 5 months they are here.   It is a fact that all the "gringos" are gone from our community but I still have a bunch of good neighbors.

Burro

I didn't catch Burro in a way to show off his ears best but this is pretty good.   As he hangs out the car window he gets lots of oohhs and aahs like something never seen before.   Burro is my neighbors dog and his first name was murcielago (bat) but Nahima couldn't pronounce it so Burro it is.   A short quick name is better for a dog.

The Internet was off and on over the last week but really not that bad.  I just had nothing to say which can be a good thing.   Going back to school shopping, trying to get CFE here to clear the neighbors tree off my power lines and catching up with things not done because too many people in town.  Semana Santa vacation is just about over and we survived it.

We've not had a totally clear day for over two weeks and the humidity has gone way up.   The ocean temperature has gone up as well.  No signs of rain here but the highlands are getting some earlier than normal.   Year of El Nino with signs this early ..... I don't know.   I just have a feeling.

The end of the season for many

My two neighbors from up north who both own homes here are starting to pack up and close up for the return north. A few more friends that rent for the season have left or will this weekend. Looks like I'll continue being the school bus driver, make a weekly trip to Cihuatlan to shop, use the pool with neighbors, fix broken things around the house and see what kind of weather hurricane season brings. The tropical weather warnings websites will start up in mid-May.

Coming back from school the other evening we saw this young burro with his mom. I asked the owner how many months old and he said "days". They don't waste time getting around.

Also ran across one of the most dramatic fotos of hurricane Jova in Barra. They'll have even less beach this year to protect them so hopefully the big ones will pass us by.

Burro dice NO!

The tourist police in Melaque provide many services ... including dealing with reluctant residents

The construction of the house finished in April 2011 and I'm pretty much settled in. As of March 2014 I'm in preparation for rain mode for this coming summer. That includes sealing and painting things and dealing with drainage issues from last year.
