Palomitas Quemadas

I usually make the popcorn but Lorena decided to this time. They made them in the morning and were going to come back for them later. I checked the pot and it was almost 1/2 unpopped kernels. I separated them and when they came back they wanted to finish the unpopped. I think Yare was in charge of watching but I think she was distracted by Facebook as usual. Anyway my whole house smells like burnt popcorn. Fans on high and windows open and it's getting a bit better.

A Sorry Mess

How have we sunk so low? How does every American not cringe at the thought of The Donald blustering and making a fool of himself before the world, racist, misogynistic, xenophobic (oooops, I forgot, he doesn't know the meaning of these words and he thinks the rest of us don't either) ... what a sorry mess we've become!

Dog wash and spaghetti

Lorena was over with the girls getting her dry clothes and decided to give her two dogs a bath. She asked if Coyota needed one too. I've been brushing her a lot but she was overdue for a bath. I usually tie her up but Lorena didn't want to. Coyota was very patient.

Clean dog

While they washed I vacuumed the pool for use

Spaghetti

I made way too much spaghetti so they took some home to the family. I still have a large bowl of cold pasta and am going to have to get creative. Lorena suggested with Mayo but I don't think so.

What a swarm

The swarm

I found this in my pool yesterday morning. Any water in my yard had more of them. I remember something like this last year but I don't have a clue what triggers this.

How do the ants know it’s time to emerge? The weather, mainly. “As it gets towards June, the colony starts producing flying ants, [which are] these reproductive males and females,” explains Hart. “The females will start a new colony and when it’s warm they emerge en masse. They fly into the air and the males mate with the females. The females drop to the ground, lose their wings and, if they survive the birds, start a new nest.”

Pou

I'd never paid attention to Pou when kids talk about him/it. Today Nahima was playing with mom's CEL and she showed me the game. First, she scratched his stomach and he giggled. Then she talked a bunch of gibberish and Pou repeated the sounds. Then I had to talk to it and my words got repeated. Lorena said he can do a bunch more things. Someday I'll let them show me.

Grand Quinceanera last night for Yuleidi in VO

Just after we came in

Some kind of dance production

Yule and the guys

We were thinking of not going but all the kids wanted to. Went with a car full and only three of us left at 11:30. The live band had just played one song and I couldn't take any more. The noise level had been high all evening and these guys were louder. That dance floor was full of crazy kids most of the night but they were having a good time and fun to watch.

Beer or Piña coladas and lots of food. An almost slide show on the screen with lots of fotos of Yule. The guys parade around with the girl for about 20 minutes and then dad comes out and dances with her. This was held in the huge Villa Obregon Ejido center across from the plaza.

Tropical Storm Agatha

The first named Eastern Pacific storm of the year and another developing right behind it. Both are way east and almost north so at most we'll get a little rain. Rain is way overdue though we did get about two inches a few nights ago. The rain must have brought a good wind with it because my wheelbarrow inside the garage had water in it.
The construction of the house finished in April 2011 and I'm pretty much settled in. As of March 2014 I'm in preparation for rain mode for this coming summer. That includes sealing and painting things and dealing with drainage issues from last year.
